Intrepid Press Rainbow IssueThe Not-So-Short Answer:

As a division of Amicus Books Literary Arts Center in Marysville, California, the Intrepid Press is open to community members, ages 16 to 23, to submit content and participate in the monthly 'zine' publication.

The Intrepid Press was formed in 2006 to provide a platform for creative young people to share their vision of the world. The IP 'Zine' workshops are held every Saturday, 1:00pm to 5:00pm in the Amicus lounge area at 413 D Street, Marysville, California.  The 'Zine' is published monthly, each based on a different theme.  Staff members are always present at the workshops to assist new-comers in the zine-making-process and to spark friendly yet philosophical conversation.

If you are interested in participating, please bring something you’d like published and create your own page to go into the next Zine! Typewriters, scissors, glue, old magazines and cheese provided.  Participants will learn the ins and outs of publishing a magazine, how to work in groups, how to set common goals and work within a budget.

The project’s main purpose is to give young people a voice in the community: to tell their truth, and give others an insight into the talents, accomplishments, hopes and concerns of this powerful and wonderful age group.  The content guidelines of the zine are very loosely structured to encourage the uninhibited exercise of free speech so basic to a healthy society and healthy people; however, there are clear goals, processes and plenty of learning opportunities.
